10 Years of Swimming Together

This year marks 10 years since Stockholm International Swimming Club first got started.

Over the past decade, we’ve had the chance to teach swimming to hundreds of adults from different parts of the world. From beginner lessons in local pools to open water sessions in the summer, it’s been meaningful to see people learn to swim and become more comfortable in the water.

Since the beginning, our focus has been on creating a welcoming space where adults can learn at their own pace, no matter their background or experience.

Since 2019, we’ve also been part of an initiative called Early Interventions for Asylum Seekers, in collaboration with the County Administrative Board in Stockholm. Through this, we’ve offered swimming lessons to people who are new to Sweden — many of whom didn’t have the chance to learn before. For some, swimming has become a way to feel a bit more at home, take part in everyday activities, and feel safer around water.

We’re thankful to everyone who’s been part of the club over the years — swimmers, instructors, volunteers, and partners. Your support has helped keep this going.

We’re looking forward to continuing the work, and to welcoming more people into the water in the years to come.
